About

Friends of Fun Food was born out of a growing concern about unhealthy eating habits across Bolton, with more people than ever eating fast food and too few fresh fruit and vegetables. Our research tells us that cost, lack of knowledge, lack of interest in cooking and low levels of cooking confidence are all major barriers to people eating well. Therefore, Friends of Fun Food is all about stimulating new found interest in food – broadening experience, gaining skills and confidence – and supporting disadvantaged and low-income individuals and families by providing guidance in cooking nutritious meals on a budget.

What we do

We organise, and participate in, food events across the town to make food exciting for everybody. We run cooking courses and demonstrations in the community and go into local schools to deliver cooking classes for children. These events cover a wide range of topics, including food hygiene, knife safety and basic cooking skills.

Friends of Fun Food also carry out Cost of Living cooking demonstrations and provide information and recipes on how to shop and cook smartly on a budget.

We have also provided cooking experiences as part of the HAF (Holiday Activities and Food) programme over the summer holidays. These take place on parks across Bolton and provide children and young people opportunities to taste and experience food in new and exciting ways.
