About

When Bolton Lunches started in 2014 it aimed to provide lunches to those who would normally receive free school meals in order to relieve the added pressure on families over the holidays. As the project has grown over the years, the heart that no child goes hungry in Bolton has continued to grow. Bolton Lunches is a project open to all children and young people aged 4-18 in our hope that all families receive that same relief.

What we do
Packed Lunches are made up by volunteers in the weeks leading up to the summer holidays, with sandwiches being made fresh each morning. Each lunch contains a sandwich, a bag of baked cheddars, a piece of fruit, a cereal bar/bakery item and a drink. These lunches are then delivered to or collected by distribution sites which are located all across Bolton, particularly in areas of higher deprivation.
Children aged 4-18 can then go to their local site to collect a lunch between 11am-12pm on weekdays over the summer holidays. Our amazing volunteers help make the lunches, open distribution sites and deliver the lunches to sites. We are also grateful to work in partnership with many churches, Warburtons, Seddon Construction, Bolton Council, Bolton at Home & U Drive.

The Bolton Lunches project is paid for through generous donations from the public. We have over the years secured small grants to cover some of our costs however they do not always cover all costs. Each year generous businesses get involved in various ways which help reduce our costs as a charity. For example; Warburtons donate the bread rolls that we make the sandwiches with.
No. The lunches are designed with children in mind between the ages 4-18. Due to the restrictions of the funding, the lunches should only be given out to those within that age range.
Making the sandwiches takes place each weekday morning over the summer holidays at 6.45am. For information on volunteering please contact admin@urbanoutreach.co.uk.
