the provision of a free packed lunch for children
over the summer holidays.
About

When Bolton Lunches started in 2014, it aimed to provide lunches to those who would normally receive free school meals to relieve the added pressure on families over the holidays. In 2020, Bolton Lunches partnered with Bolton Council to also provide lunches for children taking part in the Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme of events and in 2025, Bolton Lunches moved to exclusively providing lunches for HAF activities and events happening across Bolton.

What we do
Packed Lunches are made up by volunteers in the weeks leading up to the summer holidays, with sandwiches being made fresh each morning. Each lunch contains a sandwich, a bag of crisps, a piece of fruit, a cereal bar/bakery item and a drink. These lunches are then delivered to activity sites across Bolton each day of the summer holidays.
We are grateful to our amazing volunteers who help make the lunches, and we are also grateful to work in partnership with churches, Warburtons, Seddon Construction and Bolton Council.
A full list of HAF sites and events offering activities and food provision over the summer can be found here.
