About

When Bolton Lunches started in 2014 it aimed to provide lunches to those who would normally receive free school meals in order to relieve the added pressure on families over the holidays. As the project has grown over the years, the heart that no child goes hungry in Bolton has continued to grow. Bolton Lunches is a project open to all children and young people aged 4-18 in our hope that all families receive that same relief.

What we do

Packed Lunches are made up by volunteers in the weeks leading up to the summer holidays, with sandwiches being made fresh each morning. Each lunch contains a sandwich, a bag of baked cheddars, a piece of fruit, a cereal bar/bakery item and a drink. These lunches are then delivered to or collected by distribution sites which are located all across Bolton, particularly in areas of higher deprivation.

Our amazing volunteers help make the lunches, open distribution sites and deliver the lunches to sites. We are also grateful to work in partnership with many churches, Warburtons, Seddon Construction, Bolton Council, Bolton at Home & U Drive. This year (2025), Bolton Lunches can be accessed through some Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) sites. A full list of HAF sites offering food provision can be found here.
