Every day we help people in desperate crisis. We aim to meet their immediate needs and give them hope for a better future. We are only able to do this because of incredible generosity of people who walk with us as we strive to make Bolton a place where everyone has the opportunity to live happy, healthy and prosperous lives.
Today, will you give to bring hope to those who are struggling in our town? You could give a one-off gift; or you could make a commitment to give monthly to ensure our work continues for as long as it is needed. Here are some examples of how the money we receive helps:
£5 would buy nappies and wipes for a struggling young family
£58 would pay for a child to receive a free lunch bag each weekday over the school summer holidays
£90 would provide intensive support for a vulnerable adult for a month.
£5 a month for a year would pay for a ‘Christmas Dinner on Jesus’ Hamper
£10 – £30 would support the average cost of purchases needed to help one of the highly vulnerable adults we are intensively working with
Most of the donations we receive go into our General Fund to support our projects as the need arises. If you wish us to use your gift for a specific purpose, please ring to let us know and ask to speak to Val, our Finance Administrator. You should also ring Val if you have any questions about the administration of your donation.

Alternatively you can download the Amazon App on your smartphone, then make smile.amazon and Urban Outreach your default setting.
LEAVING A LEGACY
Remembering Urban Outreach in your Will means you can continue making a difference in the lives of others, when you are no longer here. Your gift will mean we can continue to be there for those who have no one else to turn to, giving many more people the help and hope they need and want.
There are 3 main types of gift you can make:
- residuary – a share in, or all of, what’s left of the value of your estate after family and friends have been taken care of
- pecuniary – a specific sum of money
- specific – an item such as jewellery or a piece of art
The advantage of leaving a residuary rather than a pecuniary gift is that it stays the same over time and you won’t need to be reviewed to keep up with inflation.
If you already have a Will and you want to include a gift to Urban Outreach (sometimes called a legacy), there may not be any need to rewrite it.
You can ask a qualified professional such as a solicitor to add an amendment (called a codicil). If the change is more significant or complex you may be advised to make a new Will.
Once you have made a bequest, please contact us, to let us know what you have done so we can personally thank you and keep in touch.
GIVE AS YOU EARN
With payroll giving (also known as workplace giving) you can provide Urban Outreach with a regular donation before it reaches your own bank account. This can help with budgeting and enables us to plan for the work we need to do now and in the future.
Donations are taken before tax, which means we get more of your donation and it costs you less. It also means that we don’t have to go through the process of claiming Gift Aid, so there’s less admin for us to do – and we can get on with supporting our service users!
