Dave – Co-founder and Chief Executive
Dave established the charity in 1990 after qualifying as a chef and then undertaking youth work. Dave is passionate about meeting the needs of the disadvantaged and the marginalised and recognising the potential in everyone. Dave has overseen the development, change and growth of Urban Outreach. As the charity continues to innovate and look at new ways of providing effective support, Dave remains deeply committed to building strong partnerships between churches, organisations and individuals in Bolton and advocating for the needs of the poor. In December 2020, together with his wife Chris, he was delighted to be awarded an MBE in recognition of his selfless service to the Bolton community over many years. He is also a trustee of Greater Manchester Women’s Support Alliance (GMWSA), supporting women offenders and those at risk of offending across the 10 boroughs.
Nicola – Chief Operations Officer
Nicola has a varied and extensive background in managing education, training and community projects across the voluntary, health, and social care sectors. With a Master’s degree in Inclusion, she is deeply passionate about valuing every individual and ensuring that all are supported to thrive. She has journeyed with Urban Outreach Bolton for many years, beginning as a volunteer on the STAY project in the 1990s providing respite accommodation. In 2014, she joined the charity as an employee within the Children and Families Team and, in 2019, became Team Leader in this area. In 2026 Nicola became the Chief Operations Officer which involves shared strategic, operational, and visionary leadership of the charity and oversight of the effective development, delivery, and sustainability of services across the organisation. She is a Bolton resident and feels called to ongoing service in the Bolton community. She has a heart and keen desire for social justice.
Hannah – Adult Services Team Leader
Hannah originally joined Urban Outreach to support our foodbank where she volunteered for around nine years prior. With a degree in Criminology and Forensic Psychology and experience of working for a mental health charity, she has dedicated herself to working to support the needs of highly vulnerable and complex adults. Hannah is now employed as our Adult Services Team Leader where she provides direct support to the Adult Services Team as well as working with those accessing service directly. She also takes a lead on our customer database systems and cyber security for the charity. Hannah is passionate about positive change and getting alongside others to see them realise their full potential.
Chris – Children and Families Services Team Leader
Chris joined Urban Outreach in September 2021. He has a varied background which includes a degree in Environmental Science and Community Work practicing ‘radical hospitality’ for a Methodist Church in Liverpool. He has a heart for faith-based community work and the safeguarding of young people. Upon moving to Bolton, Chris has loved getting involved with us – volunteering to help with our food projects. He was delighted to get the opportunity to join the staff team and now performs the role of Children and Families Services Team Leader.
Mark – Food Services Team Leader
Mark joined us in 2018 and is responsible for leading our food projects. He has a background in production management and is great at knowing what needs to be where and when. Mark loves using his skills to support delivery of our various food-based projects and services. He also works to support the many volunteers who help us.
Val – Finance & Facilities Officer
Val joined Urban Outreach in 2018. She has a degree in mathematics from Manchester University and for the previous fifteen years served the people of Bolton by teaching GCSE maths to adults at Bolton College, enabling them to further their career choices. Prior to this she has had a variety of computer programming jobs and has been her church treasurer for many years. Val now enjoys using her skills and experience to help those most in need across our town – providing support to the team on all things financial and in the care of buildings, systems and facilities.
